Saudi Arabia Denounces Foreign Interference in Sudan Following RSF Attacks

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned recent attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Kordofan region of Sudan, characterizing them as provocations that exacerbate the ongoing conflict in the country. Riyadh’s official statement emphasized that these acts of aggression are not isolated but part of a broader pattern fueled by foreign interference. The Saudi government pointed to the influx of foreign fighters and weaponry as critical factors intensifying the three-year conflict in Sudan.

The RSF, a paramilitary group with roots in the former Janjaweed militias, has been a central figure in Sudan’s volatile security landscape. Their operations in Kordofan and other areas have led to widespread instability and humanitarian concerns. Saudi Arabia’s denunciation comes amid growing international worries about the conflict’s potential to destabilize the broader region.

In its statement, Riyadh urged all external actors to cease support for armed factions and respect Sudan’s sovereignty. The Saudi authorities highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagements and peaceful dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis instead of exacerbating tensions through military support and illicit arms supplies.

The conflict in Sudan has been marked by complex internal divisions and the entanglement of various armed groups vying for power. The involvement of foreign fighters and the flow of weapons from outside sources have only deepened the divisions, leading to prolonged violence and suffering for the Sudanese people.

Saudi Arabia’s position reflects its broader strategic interests in regional stability and its desire to prevent the spread of conflict across borders. By condemning foreign interference explicitly, Riyadh is signaling a call for the international community to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and work toward a peaceful resolution.

The Kordofan region, historically affected by conflicts, has seen a resurgence of violence due to these RSF offensives, stressing local communities and compounding humanitarian challenges. Saudi Arabia’s statement also underscores its commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the plight of affected populations in Sudan.

In conclusion, Saudi Arabia’s denunciation of foreign interference in Sudan following RSF attacks highlights the critical role external players have played in fueling the conflict. Riyadh calls for an immediate cessation of support to armed groups and advocates for renewed diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability in Sudan, a nation grappling with a protracted and complex crisis.
