A JetBlue flight originating from Curaçao had to halt its ascent on Friday to prevent a potential midair collision with a U.S. Air Force refueling tanker, according to the pilot. The incident occurred as JetBlue Flight 1112 was en route to New York City’s JFK Airport. The pilot expressed frustration, noting that the military aircraft crossed directly in its flight path and reportedly did not have its transponder activated. “We almost had a midair collision up here. They passed directly in our flight path… They don’t have their transponder turned on, it’s outrageous,” the pilot stated during communications with air traffic control.
