With only two weeks remaining until the highly anticipated Grand Final on December 20th, the competition on the ballroom floor is reaching a fever pitch. This Saturday marks the triumphant return of Musicals Week, promising an evening of dazzling performances and intense competition.
Fans can expect to hear iconic tunes from beloved productions such as *The Phantom of the Opera* and *Guys and Dolls*. In an exciting new addition, all remaining couples will participate in a “dance relay” performance to kick off the show, celebrating the magic of musicals with songs from *My Fair Lady*, *Oliver!*, *Chitty Chitty Bang Bang*, and *Mary Poppins Returns*.
The star-studded event will feature special guest appearances, including the beloved Paddington Bear making his debut, alongside the cast of the hit West End show *Titanique*, and former contestant Tom Fletcher. Millenium TV has learned the professional dancers will deliver a captivating performance of “Cell Block Tango” from *Chicago*.
Last Saturday witnessed significant moments, with Lewis and Katya making history by winning the inaugural Instant Dance challenge. Judges awarded perfect scores of 40 to both Karen and Amber, marking Karen’s first perfect score of the current series. George and Alexis also impressed, with judge Craig Revel Horwood describing their Quickstep as “a joy to watch.” However, Alex and Johannes found themselves lower on the leaderboard following their Cha Cha Cha.
The tension culminated in Sunday night’s dance-off, where Balvinder Sopal and Alex Kingston battled to remain in the competition. Ultimately, the judging panel decided to save Balvinder, leading to Alex Kingston’s departure from the contest.
As the grand final approaches, the stakes are incredibly high. Even strong performances can lead to a precarious position on the leaderboard, and with so few couples left, every step is crucial. This Sunday, two more couples will face the dreaded dance-off, and one more dream of lifting the glitterball trophy will end.
