LOS ANGELES — Authorities discovered two deceased individuals inside a residence belonging to celebrated director and actor Rob Reiner on Sunday. A law enforcement source familiar with the case, speaking anonymously, confirmed the fatalities but withheld further details due to the ongoing investigation.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, responders arrived at the Brentwood neighborhood home in the city’s west side in response to a medical aid call Sunday afternoon. They found a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman deceased on the scene.
Rob Reiner, who turned 78 this March, is best known for his influential contributions to Hollywood during the 1980s and 1990s, directing iconic films such as “This is Spinal Tap,” “A Few Good Men,” “When Harry Met Sally,” and “The Princess Bride.” He initially gained widespread recognition for his role as Meathead on the classic 1970s television show “All in the Family.”
While the identities of the deceased have not been officially confirmed, the discovery has brought attention to Reiner’s upscale Brentwood residence, an area known for housing many celebrities. Attempts to reach Reiner’s representatives for comments were unsuccessful by Sunday evening.
Rob Reiner is the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner and has been married to photographer Michele Singer Reiner since 1989. The couple met during the production of “When Harry Met Sally” and share three children. Reiner was previously married to actor-director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981 and adopted her daughter Tracy Reiner. Carl Reiner passed away in 2020 at age 98, and Marshall died in 2018.
