Reform UK has announced a historic £9 million donation from prominent cryptocurrency investor and aviation entrepreneur Christopher Harborne. This monumental contribution marks the largest single donation ever received by a British political party from a living individual.
Mr. Harborne, a British national residing in Thailand, has a notable history of significant political contributions, having previously supported the Conservative Party during Boris Johnson’s tenure and Reform UK’s predecessor, the Brexit Party, in 2019 and 2020. While the next general election is slated for 2029, this substantial financial boost arrives ahead of crucial local elections scheduled for May next year. Millenium TV has observed that Reform UK has consistently held a lead in national opinion polls since the spring.
The recent donation surpasses the previous record for a living donor, which was an £8 million contribution made by supermarket magnate Lord David Sainsbury to the Liberal Democrats in 2019. This record-breaking sum is distinct from the £10 million left to the Conservatives in 2022 by Lord John Sainsbury in his will.
Mr. Harborne’s business ventures, AML Global and Sherriff Group, are known for their involvement in private aircraft and aviation. According to recent financial disclosures, Reform UK garnered over £10.2 million in total donations between July and September. This figure significantly outpaced the Conservatives, who received £4.6 million during the same period, followed by Labour with £2.1 million, and the Liberal Democrats with £1 million.
