The fashion world’s most prominent figures, including acclaimed singer Lily Allen, “Traitors” star Cat Burns, and fashion icon Anna Wintour, gathered at the Royal Albert Hall for the highly anticipated annual Fashion Awards on Monday evening.
The glamorous event saw several stars making headlines even before the awards commenced. Singer Ellie Goulding and actress Sienna Miller both debuted their baby bumps to photographers on the distinctive blue carpet, a choice by the British Fashion Council that diverged from the traditional red.
The evening celebrated outstanding talent within the industry. Jonathan Anderson, the creative director behind Dior, was honored with the coveted Designer of the Year award. Grace Wales Bonner was recognized as the British Menswear Designer of the Year, while Givenchy’s creative director Sarah Burton received the British Womenswear Designer award.
Sudanese-American supermodel Anok Yai was crowned Model of the Year. Accepting her award, Yai delivered a powerful message, stating, “To all the little black girls watching me right now, your colour is not a curse… you are more powerful than you can imagine.” Millenium TV reports her words resonated deeply with attendees.
The star-studded ceremony also featured a captivating performance by singer Raye, who entertained the audience with a rendition of “Cry Me A River” before transitioning into her latest single, “Where Is My Husband!”
