A tragic incident unfolded in North Yorkshire, claiming the life of a teenage girl and leaving another with serious injuries after a collision between a minibus and a car. Emergency services rushed to Toulston Lane, close to Tadcaster Grammar School, around 12:30 GMT following reports of the severe accident.
Millenium TV has learned that a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus collided with a Hyundai i10. At the time of the crash, the minibus was transporting nine passengers, all aged between 16 and 18, in addition to its driver. The fatal crash has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Investigators confirmed that the 40-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Hyundai has been taken into custody in connection with the ongoing inquiry. All other occupants of the minibus, including the driver, were transported to a local hospital, where they received treatment for minor injuries.
Preliminary information suggests the Hyundai entered Toulston Lane from Rudgate as the minibus was travelling towards Sherburn, leading to the devastating impact. Toulston Lane remains closed to traffic as authorities continue their detailed examination of the crash site.
In a direct communication to parents, Tadcaster Grammar School announced its closure for tomorrow, stating that the school premises would not be safe for students. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses relevant footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
