Dry conditions persist in Montana through Sunday

Montana – Dry conditions today are projected to persist through tonight and tomorrow with a return of sun. Temperatures slowly decline tonight toward some freezing lows, with few areas projected to hover above the 23-degree mark.
High temperatures today rose into the 40’s in the southwest, 50’s elsewhere, and Billings saw a 60-degree high today! Windiest conditions along the Rocky Mountain Front today experienced gusts in the low 30’s (mph).
A chance of showers passes through the west tomorrow; mountain flurries are more likely. A higher chance of snow showers enters Tuesday morning. The system breaks apart as it moves east, so central and eastern Montana are not forecasted to receive much of this precipitation.
Winds along the Rocky Mountain Front are projected to stick around for the rest of the weekend. Gusts have potential to reach 50 mph in the Livingston area at around 9 pm this evening. Gusts in the 30’s (mph) may arrive to Kalispell and Great Falls tonight and stick around for tomorrow as we see Cut Bank experience an increase in gusts.
Tonight we ‘spring forward’ and get an extra hour of evening light. The official switch time is 2 am Sunday!
Forecasted lows tonight will be warmer than last night, but still freezing in most areas. Highs tomorrow are expected to be similar to today, and may be even warmer in areas like Billings and Great Falls.
The next 7 days show the highest likelihood for any form of precipitation in the northwest during the first part of this week. Most of the week is expected to be dry otherwise with fairly steady, above-normal temperatures.
Our 8-14-day temperature and precipitation outlooks show warmer than normal and drier than normal conditions in the west, and near normal conditions in the east.
