Kansas City, Missouri police investigating deadly shooting after man found in apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Kansas City police have identified the 57-year-old man shot and killed in the 1000 block of West 38th Street.

The deadly shooting happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police said when they arrived on the scene, neighbors directed them to an apartment building where they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

It’s unknown what led up to the shooting, police said.

“We believe there are a few people who saw what happened,” said Kansas City police Sgt. Phil DiMartino. “People were around.”

It is Kansas City’s 71st homicide of 2024.
