Yemen’s Government Condemns Houthi Strikes on Residential Areas in Marib

Yemen’s government has strongly condemned recent strikes by Houthi forces targeting residential areas in the city of Marib. The Ministry of Information described these attacks as a serious escalation that not only endangers lives but also worsens the suffering of the civilian population.

Marib, a critical city in Yemen, has been a focal point of conflict for several years. Its strategic significance and resource wealth have made it a contested zone between government forces and the Houthis. The recent Houthi rocket and missile attacks have reportedly hit densely populated neighborhoods, leading to civilian casualties and destruction of homes and infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Information, the strikes are deliberately aimed at exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region. The government calls on the international community to intervene urgently, condemning the actions as violations of international humanitarian law and demanding accountability.

Local residents have reported a sharp increase in the intensity and frequency of attacks in the past few weeks. Families have been forced to flee their homes seeking safety, contributing to already high levels of displacement within the area.

Human rights organizations are also voicing concern over the deteriorating situation in Marib. They have urged all parties involved in the conflict to cease targeting civilian areas and to prioritize the protection of innocent lives.

The conflict in Yemen, which began over a decade ago, has led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Efforts to broker peace have been ongoing, but repeated escalations like this Houthi offensive threaten any progress made.

The Yemeni government reaffirmed its commitment to restoring stability and protecting its citizens. Authorities have pledged to continue their defense of Marib and to work with international partners to alleviate the suffering of those affected.

In summary, the recent Houthi strikes on Marib’s residential districts represent a dangerous intensification of the conflict, putting countless civilians at risk and creating urgent calls for protective measures and conflict resolution.
