In a dramatic and harrowing incident, more than 100 passengers were rescued following a fire that broke out on a ferry in Indonesia. The ferry, which was carrying numerous travelers, caught fire while en route, leading to a swift response from rescue teams and maritime authorities.

The fire reportedly started in the early hours of the day, and passengers quickly alerted the crew. Thanks to effective emergency protocols and the quick action of the crew members, evacuation procedures were initiated promptly, minimizing casualties and ensuring the safety of the majority on board.

Indonesian maritime officials confirmed that emergency services were dispatched immediately to assist the ferry, which was operating in the waters near one of the country’s busy routes. Rescue boats and helicopters participated in the operation, helping to transfer passengers from the ferry to safety.

So far, authorities report that all passengers have been accounted for with no major injuries, although some were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. The Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency continues to investigate the cause of the fire, emphasizing the importance of safety measures and maintenance compliance for passenger vessels.

This incident highlights the risks associated with ferry travel in the region, where sea transport is a vital link for many residents and tourists. Authorities have urged all operators to review safety procedures and conduct regular equipment checks to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Witnesses praised the calmness and efficiency of the ferry staff during the evacuation, which undoubtedly played a crucial role in preventing a tragedy. The passengers have been temporarily accommodated in nearby facilities while arrangements are made for their onward travel.

In conclusion, the quick reaction by the ferry crew and the coordinated efforts of the rescue teams ensured the safety of over 100 passengers. The ongoing investigation will provide further insights into the incident, helping to improve maritime safety standards in Indonesia.
