Araghchi: Strait of Hormuz Remains Under Iranian Control for 30 Days

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Araghchi has announced that the Strait of Hormuz remains firmly under Iranian control for the past 30 days. The strategic waterway, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, has been a focal point of regional and international tensions. Araghchi emphasized the importance of respecting Iran’s sovereignty over the strait and called on all parties to refrain from interfering in its management.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, making it one of the most crucial maritime routes for oil exports, with nearly a third of the world’s seaborne oil passing through it. Iran’s control over this passage highlights its strategic significance in geopolitical and economic terms.

In his statement, Araghchi urged all nations and external actors to recognize Iran’s authority and ensure peace and stability in the region. The minister warned against any attempts to challenge Iran’s control, which could escalate tensions and disrupt global energy markets.

This declaration comes amid ongoing tensions between Iran and Western countries, particularly the United States, over sanctions and military presence in the Gulf. The Iranian government asserts its right to secure and manage the Strait of Hormuz independently, asserting that it is committed to maintaining safe navigation for all countries.

International observers are closely monitoring the situation, as any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have significant repercussions on global oil prices and supply chains. Iran’s management of the strait over the past month has reportedly been stable, with no major incidents affecting maritime traffic.

The Iranian Foreign Minister’s call for non-interference highlights the broader diplomatic challenge of balancing national sovereignty with international freedom of navigation. As global energy demands persist, the stability of the Strait of Hormuz remains a key concern for policymakers, traders, and military strategists worldwide.

In summary, Iran’s reaffirmation of control over the Strait of Hormuz after 30 days underlines its pivotal role in regional security and global energy markets. The international community is urged to respect this control to avoid escalating conflicts and ensure uninterrupted maritime trade through this vital corridor.
