UN’s Guterres Condemns US-Israeli Strikes and Iranian Retaliatory Attacks, Calls for Dialogue

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran, along with the retaliatory attacks carried out by Iran. In a statement, Guterres highlighted the escalating tensions in the Middle East and underscored the urgent need for peaceful resolution through dialogue.

The strikes by the United States and Israel targeted critical infrastructure in Iran, which has led to significant regional instability. In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks, further escalating the conflict and raising fears of a broader confrontation. These developments have drawn widespread international concern.

Guterres expressed deep regret over the use of force and emphasized that violence only perpetuates cycles of conflict and suffering. He urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could lead to further deterioration of regional security.

He called for a “genuine dialogue” between the conflicting parties as the only viable path toward sustainable peace. Guterres stressed that diplomatic engagement, rather than military action, is essential to address the underlying causes of the conflict and to work toward mutual understanding.

The Secretary-General’s call for dialogue aligns with the United Nations’ longstanding commitment to promoting peace, security, and cooperation among member states. He reiterated the importance of multilateralism and the role of international institutions in facilitating conflict resolution.

This situation has garnered substantial attention globally as the Middle East continues to be a focal point for geopolitical tensions. The international community is watching closely, hoping for de-escalation and the beginning of constructive talks.

In conclusion, Antonio Guterres’ condemnation of the strikes and counterstrikes serves as a reminder of the urgent need to prioritize diplomacy over conflict. The UN Secretary-General’s appeal for dialogue aims to foster an environment where peaceful solutions can be pursued, ultimately contributing to regional and global stability.
