Saudi Arabia Condemns Foreign Interference in Sudan Amid Deadly RSF Attacks

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the recent attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Kordofan region of Sudan, describing them as a severe escalation that has further destabilized the already fragile situation in the country. Riyadh’s statements place direct blame on foreign fighters and the influx of weapons, which they say are fueling the three-year conflict in Sudan.

The RSF, a powerful paramilitary group involved in Sudan’s ongoing turmoil, launched several deadly attacks in the Kordofan area, which have resulted in numerous casualties and widespread destruction. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement condemning these attacks, highlighting the negative impact on Sudan’s sovereignty and security.

According to Saudi officials, the persistent unrest and violence in Sudan are being exacerbated by external interference. Riyadh’s remarks point to foreign fighters entering Sudan and providing support to armed groups as a critical factor aggravating the conflict. Additionally, the flow of weapons from outside the country has intensified hostilities, making peaceful resolution efforts more challenging.

The Saudi government has expressed deep concern over the destabilization that threatens Sudan’s unity and the wellbeing of its people. They call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urge all parties involved to engage in meaningful dialogue to end the violence.

Sudan’s conflict, now in its third year, has seen competing factions vying for control since the overthrow of longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir in 2019. The RSF emerged as a key player in the power struggle, often clashing with other armed groups and the official military forces.

International efforts to mediate peace have faced significant obstacles, with repeated outbreaks of violence undermining trust and progress. Saudi Arabia’s condemnation aims to highlight the dangers of external interference, which complicate the situation further, making a negotiated settlement elusive.

The Kordofan region has been a hotspot for conflict, with its diverse communities suffering repeated cycles of violence and displacement. The latest RSF attacks have only worsened these conditions, drawing international condemnation and calls for humanitarian assistance.

Saudi Arabia’s position aligns with broader international concerns about the role of foreign actors in Sudan’s conflict. The Kingdom emphasizes the need for Sudanese-led solutions free from external meddling, prioritizing national sovereignty and stability.

In response to the recent escalation, Riyadh has also reiterated its support for regional organizations and the United Nations in their peacekeeping and mediation efforts, reinforcing the importance of coordinated international action.

The Saudi government encourages all countries to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and refrain from any actions that could exacerbate the violence. By condemning foreign interference, Saudi Arabia signals its commitment to the principles of non-intervention and peaceful conflict resolution.

As Sudan grapples with economic hardships and humanitarian crises alongside the conflict, Saudi Arabia’s message underscores the urgency of ending violence and restoring peace for the benefit of all Sudanese citizens.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan remains a significant regional concern, with implications for stability across the Horn of Africa. Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of foreign interference contributes to broader efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering long-term peace in Sudan and its neighboring countries.
