Injured Arrive at Aleppo Hospital Amid Intense Artillery Fire

In the midst of ongoing conflict and intense artillery exchanges, injured civilians have been arriving at hospitals in Aleppo. Al Jazeera witnessed firsthand the harrowing scenes of wounded men, women, and children arriving at medical facilities seeking urgent care. The clashes involve the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syrian Army, whose fighting has created a deadly environment in the city.

The hospitals are struggling to cope with the sudden influx of patients. Medical staff are working tirelessly under strenuous conditions, despite the limited supplies and constant threat posed by ongoing shelling. Many of the injured patients have sustained severe wounds due to mortar and artillery fire, making immediate medical intervention crucial.

Civilians caught in the crossfire are bearing the brunt of the conflict, with residential neighborhoods being heavily shelled. This escalation disrupts daily life and worsens the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo. Human rights groups have expressed grave concerns about the safety of non-combatants and have called for an immediate ceasefire to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, who have been advancing in the area, are reported to be engaged in fierce battles against Syrian government forces aiming to retain control over strategic parts of the city. The intensity of the conflict has led to a rise in civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure buildings, including schools and hospitals.

The wounded at Aleppo’s hospitals come from various neighborhoods affected by the violence. Medical personnel are striving to provide care amid power outages and shortages of medical supplies. International aid organizations have highlighted the urgent need for safe corridors to evacuate the injured and supply medical facilities.

As the fighting continues, the ability to access healthcare remains precarious for Aleppo’s residents. The city, once a symbol of Syria’s rich cultural heritage, is now a focal point of violence with dire consequences for its people. The current clashes underscore the importance of renewed efforts for peace negotiations and protection for civilians caught in the conflict.

Efforts from international bodies and humanitarian groups to broker a ceasefire and negotiate safe passage for medical aid are ongoing but have yet to yield significant progress. Meanwhile, Aleppo’s hospitals remain frontline zones of crisis, bearing witness to the devastating human toll of the conflict.
