The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Claudio Neves Valente, was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing some closure to the tense investigation.

The incident at Brown University began when a gunman fired over 40 rounds inside an engineering building, leaving the community shaken and police initially struggling to track down the perpetrator. The breakthrough came on the sixth day of the inquiry, largely due to information provided by John, who had multiple unusual encounters with Neves Valente prior to the violence.

John’s observations included noting Neves Valente’s atypical attire for the weather and witnessing suspicious behavior near a grey Nissan Sentra with Florida license plates. This detail, previously unknown to authorities, helped law enforcement obtain surveillance footage from over 70 street cameras across Providence.
