In the latest men’s college basketball rankings, No. 1 Arizona and No. 2 Michigan have maintained their positions at the summit of the poll, continuing a tight grip on the top two spots for a second week in a row. The Wildcats secured 42 of the 61 first-place votes, while the Wolverines garnered 15, solidifying their standing at the pinnacle of the standings.
The top 10 teams remained mostly consistent with last week’s rankings. The only adjustment was between No. 7 Gonzaga and No. 8 Houston, which swapped places. Aside from the Wildcats and Wolverines, No. 3 Duke and No. 4 Iowa State also received first-place votes, indicating strong performances and high expectations.
Following closely behind are UConn, Purdue, Michigan State, and BYU, rounding out the top 10 teams nationally.
One of the most notable movements came from No. 15 Nebraska, which surged eight spots to grab its highest ranking since March 1991 after an exhilarating buzzer-beater victory over then-No. 13 Illinois. The Cornhuskers continue to impress with an undefeated 11-0 record.
Conversely, Illinois and Florida experienced the steepest drops among ranked teams, each falling five places to No. 18 and No. 23 respectively. Meanwhile, Georgia emerged as a newcomer in the rankings at No. 25, taking over the position formerly held by UCLA.
This week’s rankings highlight the intense competition and shifting dynamics in college basketball as teams vie for prominence and tournament positioning heading deeper into the season.
