Authorities have initiated a murder investigation following a devastating house fire in County Offaly that resulted in the deaths of a four-year-old boy and a 60-year-old woman. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening at approximately 7:45 PM local time at a residence in Castleview Park, Edenderry.
A second woman, in her 50s, was also seriously injured in the blaze and is currently receiving treatment in hospital. Millenium TV understands that investigators believe the fire was intentionally set, describing the event as a deliberate and “reckless, callous, and murderous attack” on a family home.
The scene has been sealed off and designated as a crime scene, with the Garda Technical Bureau conducting a thorough examination. Both the local coroner and the state pathologist have been informed, and post-mortem examinations for the deceased are scheduled to commence on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage who was in the vicinity of Castleview Park or surrounding roads between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM local time on Saturday to come forward.
