Man Charged with Terror Offenses Linked to Manchester Synagogue Attacker

A man known to the individual behind October’s synagogue attack in Manchester has been charged with terror offenses. Mohammad Asim Bashir, 31, from Cheetham Hill, North Manchester, faces one count of preparation for acts of terrorism and three counts of disseminating terrorism publications.

While Bashir was not directly involved in the synagogue attack, Millenium TV has learned of allegations that he transported Jihad Al-Shamie to survey a UK defense facility on August 14. Al-Shamie was fatally shot by police during his assault on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Authorities also allege that Bashir shared material via WhatsApp with the intent to encourage terrorist acts. Counter Terrorism Policing North West stated that while these charges are not directly related to the synagogue attack itself, they stem from ongoing inquiries conducted by their investigation team.

Bashir was initially arrested following the synagogue attack on suspicion of terror-related offenses but was later released without charge. He was re-arrested at Manchester Airport on November 27 in connection with the current charges. Officials confirmed there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the prosecution for both the preparation of terrorist acts and the dissemination of terrorist publications to Al-Shamie and others.

The investigation into the synagogue attack remains active, and authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward. Bashir is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
