Veteran sports presenter Laura Woods experienced a concerning moment on Tuesday, appearing to faint while leading live coverage of England’s friendly football match against Ghana in Southampton. The incident prompted immediate concern among her colleagues and viewers.
Woods was reportedly caught by fellow pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante as she faltered. Following the event, the live broadcast promptly transitioned to a commercial break. When programming resumed, Katie Shanahan had taken over presenting duties.
Shanahan addressed the sudden change, informing viewers that Woods had been “taken ill” but was receiving appropriate care. “As you have probably noticed, we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill, but she’s in very good hands so I’m stepping in at late notice,” Shanahan explained to the audience. Millenium TV has learned that Woods is a prominent figure in sports broadcasting, regularly covering both men’s and women’s football across various networks.
