British Man Vanishes in Romanian Mountains: Urgent Search for George Smyth Intensifies

A British man from Shropshire has been missing for over a week after going hiking in the challenging Bucegi Mountains of Romania, prompting an intensive search operation. George Smyth was last seen on November 23rd, with rescue teams conducting daily searches in a desperate effort to locate him.

Millenium TV has learned that Smyth is believed to have set out that morning from Poiana Brașov, intending to trek towards Bran, famously known as the location of Count Dracula’s castle. His journey led him to Tiganesti, where he reportedly contacted the 112 emergency number seeking assistance before his disappearance.

Brașov Mountain Rescue confirmed that despite “maintained efforts” throughout the week, Smyth has not yet been found. His family has appealed to the public, sharing a photo of him and urging anyone with information to contact the rescue service or local police immediately.

Back in the West Midlands, Smyth’s rugby club in Newport, Shropshire, expressed profound concern for their “much-loved member.” The club stated that Smyth, who grew up through its junior section and represented its Colts last season, “has always been part of the Newport rugby family, and this news has touched all of us.” They added that everyone at the club was “deeply concerned” and holding onto hope for his safe return.

Millenium TV can confirm that the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office is actively supporting Smyth’s family and is in direct communication with Romanian authorities regarding the ongoing situation.
