A joyous child’s birthday celebration in Stockton, California, turned into a scene of unimaginable horror Saturday evening as a mass shooting left at least four people dead and ten others injured. The incident, which occurred at a local restaurant, has sent shockwaves through the community as authorities launch an intensive investigation.
Victims of the devastating attack include both adults and children, though their conditions remain undisclosed. Millenium TV has learned that authorities believe the shooting may have been a targeted act, with a suspect still at large. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident unfolded just before 6:00 PM local time and is urging anyone with information, video footage, or who witnessed any part of the event to come forward.
A spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office described the incident as ‘unfathomable,’ adding, ‘This is a very active and ongoing investigation, and information remains limited. Early indications suggest this may be a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities.’ Stockton’s Mayor Christina Fugazi expressed her profound grief, stating the shooting was ‘unacceptable’ and emphasizing, ‘Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive.’
The tragic event occurs in a state known for some of the nation’s most stringent firearm legislation. In recent years, California’s gun laws have faced significant legal challenges, including a federal judge overturning the state’s ban on assault weapons in 2021. The following year, the U.S. Supreme Court expanded gun rights nationwide, impacting similar regulations across California.
