Donald Trump visits Southern California on campaign fundraising tour

Former President Donald Trump visited Southern California Friday during his first major campaign fundraiser swing happening this weekend.

Trump held a Beverly Hills event Friday night hosted by businessman Lee Samson before heading to Newport Beach on Saturday night for another event.

Tickets to the private Beverly Hills fundraiser started at $5,000, a photo opportunity with Trump was priced at $40,000, roundtable seating was $100,000 and to become an event chair required $250,000, according to the Los Angeles GOP website.

On the heels of his conviction on 34 felony charges on May 30, the Republican presidential candidate announced his campaign received over $34 million on the same day.

On Thursday, Trump held an event in San Francisco hosted by David Sacks, a venture capitalist and former PayPal executive, along with his wife, Jacqueline Sacks, and venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya. He reportedly raised around $12 million at that event.

Trump will head to Newport Beach for Saturday’s event which will be hosted by John Word, the co-founder of a health insurance company. Tickets for that event range from $3,300 to $100,000 per person.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, days before he is expected to be formally announced as the GOP’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

This trip marks Trump’s first visit to Southern California since the Anaheim GOP Convention in September 2023.

President Joe Biden is set to visit Southern California the following weekend for a major fundraiser at the Peacock Theater in downtown L.A. that will include appearances by former President Barack Obama and celebrities including George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
