Delaware festival named one of nation’s top beer festivals in USA TODAY’s 10Best Awards

The Historic New Castle Belgian Beer Festival was named one of the best beer festivals in the nation by the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Contenders for the beer awards – which include other categories like best beer bar, best beer city and best small town beer scene, among others – are nominated by industry experts and vetted by 10Best editors before the final set of nominees are voted on by the public.

Out of this process, Delaware’s Historic New Castle Belgian Beer Festival won top honors, accompanied by other festivals like Tailspin Ale Fest in Louisville, Kentucky, and Kill The Lights in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Historic New Castle Belgian Beer Festival is a collaborative effort that was first held in 2022 and showcases both the charm of historic New Castle and newly imported Belgian beers. Held in Battery Park along the Delaware River, the festival features 30 different Belgian beers being served for the first time in Delaware.

The next Belgian Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 5 p.m., or starting at noon for VIP ticket holders. Tickets go on sale on July 1, and according to event organizers, VIP tickets sell out fast and the 2023 festival was completely sold out, so don’t wait to secure your spot to sip on some brews. Festival guests receive a souvenir tasting glass.

Belgian beers you can look forward to at this year’s event include Delirium, Bosteels, Gulden Draak, Bourgogne de Flandres, Val-Dieu and Limburgse, among plenty of others.

is award comes on the heels of Dewey Beer Co. being named the best brewpub in the nation in the same contest and First State Brewing being named one of the best new breweries in the country in August.
