176 The partnership of 176 runs between Shafique and Rizwan makes it the second highest partnership for Pakistan for any wicket in World Cup matches only behind the 194-run opening stand between Saeed Anwar and Wajahatullah Wasti against New Zealand in the semifinal in 1999.
689 The aggregate of 689 runs in the match is the third highest ever in World Cups behind 754 runs in the South Africa – Sri Lanka contest earlier in the tournament followed by 714 runs in the match between Australia and Bangladesh at Trent Bridge in 2019.
8-0 Pakistan’s World Cup head-to-head record against Sri Lanka which makes it the most one sided affair in the history of the competition. Pakistan went past India’s 7-0 record against themselves, their opponent for the next fixture.
65 balls taken by Kusal Mendis makes it the fastest ever century for Sri Lanka, the sixth fastest ever and the fastest ever by an Asian batter in World Cup contests. The previous fastest for an Asian batter was Kumar Sangakkara’s 70-ball effort against England in Wellington in 2015.

On his debut in the tournament against South Africa in Delhi he conceded 95 in ten overs and followed it up with 90 in nine overs today. The only other bowler to suffer the ill fate was Kevin O’Brien who gave away 95 and 90 in successive matches in the 2015 edition.
